Here, the ylang-ylang flower takes centre stage, as it does on the island of Moheli in the Comoros archipelago, where the star-shaped yellow flower flourishes alongside luscious vegetation. It has never been smelled this way: green, spicy, slightly woody, without languor or opulence.
